We have decorated and furnished Squirrel cottage to a high standard, as we would our own home. As one pair of guests said "The accommodation was superlative and is highly recommended. We were very comfortable and the rooms are large!"

The large conservatory has a dining room table and 6 chairs. Fitted with pull down blinds all round allows for privacy and shutting out the sunlight if required.

The comfortable living room has a sofa, armchair and television with video, DVD player and wood pellet stove. There are two windows that look out on to the wooded gorge of the Altgurnaig Burn (river) below.

The cottage has oil fired central heating and hot water system. There is a wood pellet stove in the living room - this allows you extra heat plus a real flame. Wood pellets are sold at cost £4 per bag which burns for about 6 hours continuosly. Meter readings for the electricity (most people use about £3 to £4 for the week, the highest reading we have had was £10, (when they switched on the electric immersion heater). The telephone reading will be taken when you arrive,and when you leave and payment made for the units used, (you pay exactly what we are charged - there is no mark up). The oil fired hot water and central heating system, is metered so you pay for the litres of oil you use - again there is no mark up!

The bed room has beds that can be made up as double or twin beds. Please advise when booking your choice.

There is plenty of cupboard space, with a built in cupboard all along one wall.

The double glazed window looks out on to the Oak wood at the back of the house. It is here Roe Deer are often seen early in the mornings or in deep winter January, February and March feeding in the middle of the day. It is a lovely natural view, un spoilt by man.

The bathroom consists of a cast iron solid bath, a shower which has mains pressure hot and cold water (so plenty of pressure). The shower also has a shower seat for those who prefer to have a seated shower, it flips down from the wall. There is a toilet and wash hand basin. We also provide two large towels and hand towels, plus a couple of rolls of toilet paper.

The bathroom is situated just outside the bedroom literally one step away from the bedroom door.

The small kitchen backs on to the living room, with two windows looking out on the stone drive. The work tops are on 3 sides, a washing machine, dish washer, fridge, kitchen top freezer and micro wave with pots and pans, all cutlery, hand towels and crockery provided.
